This 4th of July

As we celebrate our nation’s independence, we salute our nation’s veterans and cherish the freedom they fought to secure. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts. Today 248 years ago 13 state delegates decided to do something unthinkable at the time and succeed from the greatest power in the world at the time. They wanted things like the right to believe in what they chose, they wanted liberty not just for certain majorities but for all. The right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. They could have been hung for treason for disagreeing with the crown was most certainly death but they continued to push.

They even put in the constitution, “Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
